I was Curious about some Oddities, so I attended…

Feb 26, 2024 | events |

This last Saturday I wasn’t traveling or doing a show for once, and Oddities and Curiosities ( odditiesandcuriositiesexpo.com ) happened to be in Charlotte, NC.  I won’t lie, I’m jealous since I’ve been trying to get into the show.  I’ve heard so many great things and all the vendors that are in it say they do great.  Now I would have to cut my fan art, which is fine and would be a great opportunity to showcase my FriteLites and do some fun monsters and cryptids.

Either way, I wanted to check it out and say hi to some vendor friends.  It’s an affordable show which I love.  So many conventions charge too much so the crowd doesn’t have money to spend, plus they have attractions, but no celebrities, so as a vendor you get to be one of the “stars”.

I managed to say hello to the showrunner and even dropped off one of my FriteLites. Sometimes, photos just don’t do justice to the intricacies of our creations. She was incredibly gracious, and it left me feeling hopeful for a shot at participating next year.

But let’s talk about the expo itself—it’s seriously cool. Sure, I’ve seen many of the vendors at other shows, but there’s something about the Oddities and Curiosities Expo that sets it apart. It’s a haven for those of us who geek out over unique and eccentric finds. And that’s precisely the kind of environment that fuels my passion for what I do.

Overall, it was a day well spent, even if I was just on the sidelines this time around. Here’s hoping for another shot next year—and maybe even scoring some of those quirky treasures for myself!
